Porlezza
On the eastern end of Lake Lugano, the village, surrounded by green mountains, is a destination for various excursions and walks. Besides the main centre, the hamlets of Tavordo, Begna, Agria and Cima make up the municipality of Porlezza. The village, an important tourist and commercial centre, is located on Italian territory at the north-eastern end of Lake Lugano (Ceresio). It can be reached either via Switzerland, skirting the Ceresio, or remaining in Italian territory, driving along the Statale Regina as far as Argegno and then crossing the Val D’Intelvi, or as far as Menaggio, from where the deviation to Porlezza starts.
The locality is very popular, especially during the summer period, since in addition to being a seaside resort rich in tourist facilities, it offers the possibility of various excursions to the surrounding mountains. Of considerable historical interest is the hamlet of Cima, which has maintained a typical medieval structure with remains of ancient walls and fortifications.
A few kilometres from the village, in the direction of Menaggio, one can visit Lago del Piano and the Orrido di Corrido, and in the direction of Val d’Intelvi, the Rescia caves, rich in suggestive stalactites and stalagmites, and the Orrido di Osteno.
There are beautiful houses for sale in Porlezza and the property market is booming.
